Well the inaugural Tropical Writers Festival went off without a hitch on the weekend. Hundreds of people attended from throughout North Queensland to sit in on the various panels, workshops and events that were held over the 2 days. The guest of honor was fiction writer – Nick Earls. He provided a number of entertaining presentations and a workshop that was sold out. Writers of all genres attended the festival, some professional, some experienced, some just starting out.
It was stimulating on every level and an absolute credit to the Tropical Writers Group who put a huge amount of hard work into making it such a professional event.
I am sure that this will become a regular feature on our literary calendar. As this first festival was so successful I can only imagine how it will grow in coming years.
Many thanks to everyone who attended and to the Tropical Writers Group for all of the hard work you have done to make the festival a wonderful two day experience.
Warm wishes,
Andrew
I was fortunate enough to attend several sessions at the festival and commend the organisers and presenters on a well-run, insightful and entertaining weekend. The mix of opinions and perspectives was reassuringly candid.
As an accomplished author to whom many aspire, Andrew deserves particular praise for generously sharing his accumulated wisdom, experiences and nuggets of knowledge.
Thanks Kaj – it was great to see such a diverse range of people attending the first event of its kind. I can really see it growing in coming years and there is an opportunity for companies like yours to generate some good business out of it.
As I looked around the room it soon became apparent that the internet is not something utilized as much as it should be by most aspiring authors in our neck of the woods.
Cheers,
AG
Yes – it was fantastic. I’ve been with the group since the beginning and they are absolutely brilliant, myself included! Next event is the launch of our third anthology ‘Raining on the Sun’. Look out for it.
